Getting Started
Add income first, then monthly bills, Food & Gas, subscriptions, loans, savings, and goals. The dashboard calculates your monthly balance and daily cash allowance from the data you enter.
Income
Add monthly income sources with an optional URL. BudgetAxe uses those numbers to calculate your monthly balance and daily cash allowance.
Alerts / Notifications
The bell panel shows today's reminders, paydays, subscription charges, loan auto-payments, and goal triggers. Use “I have paid this” to clear a same-day alert.
Privacy Mode
Privacy mode blurs financial values on the dashboard. You can require a PIN to unlock it, but this is not encryption.
Backups
Your data is local to this browser. Export a JSON backup regularly before clearing browser data, switching browsers, or moving devices.
Shortcuts
Use F1, F2, and F3 for fast Income, Expense, and Savings entries. Button visibility and alignment are controlled in Settings.
If enabled and no day is selected, BudgetAxe defaults to the 1st day of the month.

Choose which items appear in the moving Snapshot ticker. Notifications only show when there is a calendar reminder.
Shortcut Buttons
Choose whether the shortcut buttons below Quick Links align left, center, or right. Button labels, colors, and key bindings are fixed.
Expenses, Subscriptions & Loans

Hide any Expenses sub-section you do not use. Hidden sections keep their saved data and can be turned back on later.
Savings & Goals

Customize the Goals section. Emergency Fund and Vacation Fund live inside Goals and keep their saved data when hidden.
Data Management
Manage backups, automatic backup reminders, imports, and full reset from one place. Export regularly if you care about keeping your data.
Backup & Restore
Export a .json backup, import an older backup, or choose a supported browser backup folder.
Backup folder: browser default Downloads folder. Supported Chromium browsers may let you choose a folder.
Current save location: browser default Downloads folder.
Auto Backup
When enabled, BudgetAxe checks on open and exports on your selected monthly date.
Auto-backup runs only while this HTML file is open.
Reset
Clear all saved BudgetAxe data from this browser. Export a backup first if you may need this information later.
This deletes all BudgetAxe data from this browser.
